WKRHOUSE
One of BBC Cymru Fyw’s top 5 artists to watch in 2023, now a 2024 BBC Horizons Launchpad Fund awardee, WRKHOUSE weave gliding melodies in between groove-heavy guitars and drums to create atmospheric, intelligent songs. Hailing originally from North Wales, now scattered across the UK, they have quickly gathered pockets of loyal fans eagerly awaiting a release, with sold out shows at Cardiff’s Clwb Ifor Bach, The Deaf Institute Manchester, The Victoria Dalston London, and a mainstage slot at Lakefest 2023 tucked under their belt.
Formed by members Lewys Meredydd Siencyn, Gethin Meilir Elis, Iestyn Jones and Ioan Bryn, the Welsh four-piece delivers atmospheric songs that emphasize the beauty of the Welsh language with bilingual songwriting and gliding melodies. With their musical backgrounds ranging from classical to contemporary, WRKHOUSE deliver an expansive sonic experience that isn’t tied to a specific texture and allows their unique mixing of alt-pop, indie and rock to shine through. In early 2024, their debut EP 'Out Of The Blue' landed them on BBC Radio Wales' A-List and garnered critical acclaim from media outlets such as Atwood Magazine, Earmilk, and God Is In The TV.
