Taliwhoah

A stylish pop outlier with Afro-Caribbean soul, R&B swagger, and hypnotic mystique, London-born and Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and artist Taliwhoah immediately elicits a reaction any time she sings or even steps into a room. That typical response can be found in her very moniker...“My real name is Talitha, but ‘Whoah’ is the reaction someone had to me once, so that’s how I got the nickname,” she explains. Crossing the pond again, 2017 saw her put down roots in Los Angeles as Rostrum Records offered up a deal. Now, she introduces a singular style on her debut EP New Wave Order, Vol 1. “I’m a fusion of cultures,” she goes on. “I like the fact you can’t box me in."

On “Details,” her voice takes flight over a skittering synth, entrancing at every turn. “I was thinking about tattoos as an analogy for life,” Taliwhoah goes on. “The biggest risks you take define you. Those little details we’re left with are what matter the most. It’s a moment of reflection for me.” Ultimately, “Whoah” is an apropos reaction to everything she does. “This is the wave of music I want people to feel,” she leaves off. “It’s so diverse. It won’t be confined to one style. There’s no longer going to be a one-dimensional artist. It’s all multi-dimensional. That’s the New Wave Order.”
