Michael Malarkey
Michael Malarkey is a singer/songwriter and actor. Following the release of Michael’s second full-length album Graveracer in 2020 and an extensive European Tour, he returns in 2022 with a new selection of songs that continue his Americana-noir aesthetic and life-affirming respect for death.
The Strays EP was recorded at Strongrooms Studios in London with Dustin Dooley. It is introspective and delicate, yet deliberate. To be a ‘stray’ is to have wandered from the pack, whether intentionally or by accident, and this is a theme explored on much of the record.
Born in Beirut, Lebanon to an Irish-American father and an Arab-Itialian mother, Michael was raised in Yellow Springs, Ohio before he travelled to London, UK where he lived for many years and still maintains as his home away from home.
Influenced by a diverse and eclectic profusion of music, indulged by an obsession to 'crate dig', Michael's sound is unbound by traditional classification. It is however undeniably his own style with the central focus being his scintillating lyrics and the dark and delicate intimacy of their delivery. Each song is a new journey into another corridor of his mind, charged with the depth of a man who sees the world in imagery and emotion.
