Knives
Knives stormed into the UK alternative scene in 2023, unleashing electrifying live performances and raucous studio recordings that are nothing short of mesmerising. Led by the ferocious, vitriolic shouts of Jay Schottlander and backed by two guitarists (Dan Farren and Josh Cook), a bassist (Ben Marshall), a drummer (Erin Cook), and two saxophonists/ backing vocalists (Maddy Hill and Izzi Allard) Knives are a seven-piece punk powerhouse demanding attention. Their raw blend of post-punk, hardcore, rap, and noise anthems are driven by powerful basslines, gritty riffing, and vocalist Jay Schottlander's unique, venomous shouts reminiscent of a punk town crier. Despite their diverse backgrounds, the band members unite with shared musical influences such as Rage Against The Machine, Show Me The Body, and MF Doom, which have shaped their distinctive sound. Building on the success of their debut EP, 'Newshounds,' released last April, Knives have secured performances alongside flagship punk acts like Mclusky, CLT DRP, Tokky Horror, Enola Gay, and LIFE.
