Boerd

boerd (pronounced bored) is the alias of musician/producer Bård Ericson. Since 2011 he has been focusing on his solo project boerd, where he has developed a melancholic and dreamy fusion of ambient, triphop and downtempo beats, mixed with his own recordings of piano, guitars, strings and voices.

Bård studied classical music at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, and currently works professionally as a double bass player in the symphony orchestras and opera houses in Stockholm. With intricate sound design, nuanced percussion and warm synth tones, boerd draws on his deep musical knowledge of contemporary classical music as a regular member of the Royal Swedish Opera, Swedish Radio Symphony, and Stockholm Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He started making electronic music around 2006, and after a few years in the chipmusic scene and making electro with his band Stay Ali, he began exploring more ambient and experimental sounds.

Ericson has proven himself as an accomplished double bass player, touring Tokyo, Stockholm, and New York, the producer performed in the Philip Glass opera ‘Satyagraha’ earlier this year (including four sold out shows in Brooklyn’s illustrious Harvey Theatre), he also recently contributed as a member of Andrea Bocelli’s orchestra throughout his Scandinavian tour.

On the first cut from the record ‘Before We Drown’ (feat. Stella Explorer), boerd demonstrated his capacity for emotive, introspective song writing and arrangements. Second single ‘Look’ was described by The Line Of Best Fit as recreating “a feeling of watching the rain from a cosy room”, a mental image that fits the album as a whole.
